By all account it is a fantastic score. If you haven’t heard/experienced the “official” soundtrack that was originally and belatedly released on vinyl, search for it and listen to it you’re in for a treat - Vangelis arranged it so that it stands alone apart from the film, and includes some of the most iconic dialog from the movie as part of the music.

Overall, In The City Of Angels is an interesting, albeit only partially successful, outlier in his career.
