Known by many names – Tieguanyin, Tie Guan Yin, Ti Kwan Yin, Ti Kuan Yin, or the Iron Goddess of Mercy, this Oolong tea hails from Anxi county, nestled in Fujian province, China.. Fujian’s terroir, characterized by its climate and unique soil conditions, is famous as the birthplace of several renowned Chinese teas.

Tie Guan Yin, also known as Iron Goddess of Mercy, is a premium Chinese oolong tea counted among China’s top ten famous teas. Its origins can be traced back to Xiping Town in Anxi County, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, which was first discovered between 1723 and 1735. “Tie Guan Yin” refers to the tea and tree variety.

Er hat viele Erdtöne und ist vom Koffeingehalt eher mild. Ursprünglich war das Rösten über den Kohlefeuer eine Methode um den Tee länger haltbar zu machen.
