Roger Keith Barrett (Cambridge, 6 de enero de 1946-ibidem, 7 de julio de 2006), conocido como Syd Barrett, fue un músico, cantante y compositor británico conocido por haber sido el líder de la banda inglesa Pink Floyd en su primer álbum The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
He continued painting and dedicated himself to gardening. Pink Floyd recorded several tributes and homages to him, including the 1975 song suite "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and parts of the 1979 rock opera The Wall. In 1988, EMI released an album of unreleased tracks and outtakes, Opel, with Barrett's approval.

On June 5, 1975, in a moment worthy of a Hollywood scriptwriter, Syd Barrett, unrecognised, shuffled into Abbey Road while Floyd were listening to a playback of the track.
