28 de oct. de 2005 · Sarah Lucas attended Goldsmiths College from 1984–7 and showed her work in Freeze, the legendary exhibition curated by Damien Hirst in 1988. Lucas's first solo exhibition was at City Racing in 1992 and in 1993 she set up The Shop with Tracey Emin, a temporary retail outlet selling art multiples.

Like them, she enjoyed making art that was deliberately shocking and provocative. Since then, Lucas has gone on to forge a career as one of Britain’s foremost conceptual artists and sculptors.

Appropriating commonplace materials, Lucas’ work makes assertive comments on sexuality, death, and gender. She is recognized as among the most prominent members of the Young British Artists, alongside her contemporaries Damian Hirst, Tracey Emin, and Chris Ofili along with others.

kurimanzutto is pleased to present the first solo exhibition at the gallery by British artist Sarah Lucas. This is Lucas’ second exhibition in Mexico, after having shown NUDS at the Museo Diego Rivera Anahuacalli in 2012.. The artist’s work is characterized by irreverent humor and the creation of visual puns and vulgar euphemisms referring to sex, death and identity.
