Tradicionalmente la expresión “au naturel” (al natural) se ha empleado en el arte para hablar de desnudos, y generalmente protagonizados por modelos femeninos. Pero aquí la artista británica Sarah Lucas (1962 – ) juega con el significado y sentido de tal expresión.

La muestra del New Museum se titula Au Naturel en alusión a una de sus obras más impactantes, realizada en 1994: dos pomelos y un cubo a unos palmos de un pepino aviesamente erecto, flanqueado por dos naranjas encima de un colchón amarillento y lleno de manchas, indolentemente apoyado en la pared.
