23 de abr. de 2024 · After retiring the name the Mothers of Invention in the late 1970s, Zappa withdrew from explicit political commentary and released, under his own name, the enormously influential jazz-rock fusion album Hot Rats (1969), which featured a memorable vocal from his old friend Don Van Vliet, better known as Captain Beefheart.

1 de may. de 2024 · Frank Zappa, Hot Rats (Bizarre) After breaking up The Mothers of Inventions – allegedly after seeing Duke Ellington beg his label for a $10 advance – Frank Zappa formed a new band featuring such musicians as Ian Underwood and Sugarcane Harris. He spent much of 1969 working on Hot Rats, now known as the start of the jazz-fusion genre.
