19 de sept. de 2017 · Biography. Drebbel began his career as an inventor and engraver, marrying the sister of artist Hendrick Goltzius. He and Goltzius also practiced alchemy, and Drebbel composed a natural philosophical work, On the Nature of the Elements. The first surviving edition is a German translation (Drebbel 1608 ). In 1604, Drebbel moved to Ipswich, England.

Biographie. Drebbel: Cornelis D., Physiker geb. zu Alkmaar 1572, † zu London 1634. Die viel und bis vor wenigen Jahrzehnten verbreitete Sage machte D. zu einem holländischen Bauern und zum Erfinder des Thermometers, welcher z. B. in Lambert's Pyrometrie (Berlin 1779 §. 57 ff.) geradezu als Drebbelscher Thermometer bezeichnet wird.

7 de nov. de 2016 · Cornelis Drebbel, a Dutch inventor, died Nov. 7, 1633, at the age of about 61; we do not know his date of birth. Drebbel invented and built a variety of contraptions in Holland, including several perpetual motion machines and clocks (none of which, oddly enough, seem to be still working today), as well as a self-regulating furnace.
