Peggy Ashcroft was an English actress who starred in more than 60 years of theatre and film roles. She was known for her work with the Old Vic, John Gielgud, Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter. She won two BAFTAs and an Oscar for her performance in The Importance of Being Earnest (1952).
