Dame Margaret Taylor Rutherford, DBE (11 May 1892 – 22 May 1972) was an English actress of stage, television and film. She came to national attention following World War II in the film adaptations of Noël Coward 's Blithe Spirit, and Oscar Wilde 's The Importance of Being Earnest.

Margaret Rutherford was a British actress who played Miss Jane Marple in four films and an uncredited cameo in The Alphabet Murders. She also appeared in more than 40 other films, such as Blithe Spirit, Murder at the Gallop, and Murder Most Foul. She won an Oscar for her performance in The V.I.P.s and was known for her eccentric style and voice.
