Kirby James Fairchild is an American guitarist and singer-songwriter. He is best known as the rhythm guitarist of the indie rock bands Grandaddy and Modest Mouse. Fairchild has released solo material under the pseudonym All Smiles.

Grandaddy is an American indie rock band from Modesto, California. The group was formed in 1992, and featured Jason Lytle, Aaron Burtch, Jim Fairchild, Kevin Garcia and Tim Dryden, until Garcia's death in 2017 following a stroke .
Guitarist Jim Fairchild joined the band in 2009. The band's sixth album, Strangers to Ourselves, was released in 2015 and their seventh, The Golden Casket, in 2021. History. Formation and early years: 1992–1999. When Isaac Brock was a teenager, he was employed at a local family video store just outside Seattle, where he met bassist Eric Judy.
The album is the last to feature guitarist Jim Fairchild and Lisa Molinaro. Both departed from the band just days prior to the album's release. [1] . This was also the last album to feature drummer Jeremiah Green before his death in December 2022. Critical reception. The Golden Casket received generally positive reviews from critics.
