  6. Friends of Distinction frontman Harry Elston began his singing career with Ray Charles’ backup band, the Hi-Fis. Eventually, the group changed their name to the Vocals and recorded for Charles’ Tangerine label. When none of their singles charted, the group went their separate ways.
