23 de abr. de 2024 · In the autumn of 1955, long before Sol LeWitt declared that ‘ideas alone can be works of art’, Ono’s Lighting Piece consisted of a simple injunction: ‘Light a match and watch till it goes out.’. Yoko Ono performing ‘Lighting Piece’ (1955) at the Sogetsu Art Center, Tokyo, in 1962. Evidently it was an idea with legs.

El cantante acudió a una muestra del grupo de artistas conceptualistas del que ella formaba parte y, según cuentan, sus obras le cautivaron. La pareja se casó en Gibraltar en 1969 y no se separó hasta que con 39 años él fue asesinado a las puertas del edificio Dakota el 8 de diciembre de 1980 en Nueva York.
