Their first album was originally released independently as Rock Hard in 1980 and the following year the band was signed by Arista Records, who reordered the album tracks and released it simply titled The Rods. Their second album Wild Dogs followed in 1982 and was re-released in 2004. The Rods' third album, released 1983, was entitled In the Raw.

This edition comes in a standard jewel case with a black tray. It includes a 28-page booklet, a slipcase and a 2-sided poster. The slipcase contains the slightly different original UK front cover while the front of the booklet contains the standard front cover. The poster contains both front covers.

23 de sept. de 2021 · The album cover is memorable, despite it merely being the three band members (vocalist/guitarist David ‘Rock’ Feinstein, drummer Carl Canedy and new bassist Garry Bordonaro) doing their best to look moody whilst leaning against a crumbling building. Musically, I recall it being a slightly harder edged KISS. Listening again, I stand by that.
