The official cause of death on his death certificate was coronary thrombosis (a blood clot in the heart); evidence of external injuries was so insignificant that the police reported that his death was due to "unknown or natural causes", and no external injuries were noted on the death certificate.

This condition is defined by the National Library of Medicine as a heart attack, or basically the rupture of an artery to the heart — nothing necessarily connected to external injury.

6 de jul. de 2023 · Walter’s longtime musical companion, Muddy Waters, wasn’t surprised by news of his friend’s death, saying “Little Walter was dead ten years before he died.” The untamed bad boy of the blues was laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Evergreen Park, Illinois.
Police reported his death as a homicide. In the wake of his tragic death, Little Walter’s daughters, Marion Diaz Reacco and Darlean Miller, have worked to carry on his legacy. In 2012, they established the Little Walter Foundation in Chicago to preserve and promote their father’s music.
