The following description of the Martian fighting-machines (or tripods) was created by myself reading through the novel multiple times and compiling every reference I could find to how the tripods looked and behaved into one cohesive description.
I'm suggesting that the Fighter and Handling are both the same height because in the first attack when the tripod passed Ray the height looked almost identical to the handling machine that captured Ray and Rachel.
