Walburga lived in Grimmauld Place starting at an unknown point in her life, presumably after she married her second cousin Orion. She died in 1985 , but her portrait still remained at 12 Grimmauld Place .

Invisible to Muggles, residents of Grimmauld Place assumed that the missing number 12 was an unexplained oddity of the street. Originally given to the Order by Sirius Black, the house was inhabited only by house elf, Kreacher, who saw the Order as a betrayal to his pure-blood family.
