While the band members' famously cross-dressed appearance might seem to link them with the 1980s glam metal movement, Twisted Sister's aggressive musical style was coupled with a more grotesque use of makeup and women's clothing resulting in a product quite distinct from the more hedonistic androgyny of glam metal groups like Mötley Crüe and Poison.
Hailing from Pennsylvania, Poison is another band that falls under the umbrella of glam rock and hair metal. Like Twisted Sister, Poison was prominent in the music scene during the 1980s. The band’s popularity soared with their second studio album, Open Up and Say…Ahh! in 1988, which featured hit songs like “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” and “Nothin’ but a Good Time.”

Open Up and Say... Ahh! is the second studio album by American glam metal band Poison, released on April 27, 1988, through Enigma Records.It proved to be the band's most successful release, and spawned four hit singles: "Nothin' But a Good Time", "Fallen Angel", "Your Mama Don't Dance" (a Loggins and Messina cover) and their only number one single to date, "Every Rose Has Its Thorn".
