While Seconds Out was recorded at what must be considered a peak of the band's career, Three Sides Live was (partly) recorded on the tour for the weak Abacab album.

It is not surprising that the interior of the Three Sides Live album shows a stage photo that illustrates the impressive power of those lights. The album came out in June 1982 in two versions.
Three Sides Live is a double album with different versions, in its British version, (Charisma GE 2002), it has four concert sides. But the U.S. version, which determined the title album Three Sides Live, was made up of ten live cuts recorded on-stage in Germany in 1981, with Daryl Stuermer and Chester Thompson in the group's lineup.
