Jesse Colin Young, a singer-songwriter from New York, is best known as the lead vocalist of the 1960s folk-rock band The Youngbloods. In 1972, he released a solo album called “Song for Juli,” which featured the song “Ridgetop.”

It was covered on albums by The Youngbloods, Peter Paul & Mary, and even Peggy Lee, but it did not become widely known until Rod Stewart released it as a single in 1971.

Taj Mahal, Tower of Power, John Lee Hooker, Sons of Champlin, Spencer Davis, and Steve Miller were just a few of the fifty different acts that performed at Pepperland in 1971.
