bass, drums and vocals are the essentials for most popular music especially live, everything else is window dressing. People feel the bass and mentally lock into the human voice. Rhythm has 10x impact than tones (apart from the human voice) as it’s the most primal musical instinct. Obviously I’m not a guitarist!
