Westley, also known as the Dread Pirate Roberts, is a pirate and Buttercup 's lover. The two fell in love when they met on her farm and were later separated when Westley left to seek his fortune due to not having money for marriage. He was later presumed to be killed by Ryan, the Dread Pirate Roberts at the time of his departure.
