Concerts for the People of Kampuchea was a series of concerts featuring Wings, Queen, The Clash, The Pretenders, The Who, Elvis Costello, and many more artists which took place at the Hammersmith Odeon in London during December 1979 to raise money for the victims of war-torn Cambodia.
Historical background. The PRK was established in January 1979 as a result of a process that began with Khmer Rouge belligerence. Khmer Rouge directs its hostility against Vietnam. Initially, communist North Vietnam was a strong ally of the Khmer Rouge while it was fighting against Lon Nol 's Khmer Republic during the 1970–1975 civil war.
