I just re-read the outsiders again after a few years and I’m wondering if Ponyboy was experiencing the events that happened in the Outsiders as it went on in the book and then talked about the theme his teacher assigned OR if the whole book was part of his essay theme including the last part where he mentions his teacher wanting him to write the theme.

So I read most of it to her. While I read it I pictured C Thomas Howell as Pony Boy and Ralph Macchio as Johnny.
