Biography. Gurgi loves Taran, but is not loved much in return. He helps him find the titular Black Cauldron, but the witches who guard it warn that it is indestructible and negating its power requires self-sacrifice. At the climax of the film, Gurgi is the only one who avoids capture by the evil Horned King.
Taran decides to jump into the cauldron to save everyone, but Gurgi jumps in instead, killing the Cauldron-born as well as himself. The cauldron begins consuming anything within its vicinity. Taran is confronted by the Horned King, who attempts to sacrifice him to the Cauldron.
