Hace 2 días · The parish of Stepney lies in the hundred of Ossulston: it is situated to the east of London, and comprises nearly the whole space between the Mile-end road and the river Thames, from Whitechapel to Bow; it extends also in some places to a considerable distance on the other side of the Mile-end road.

A maritime parish with the associated activities and docks, Stepney was also closely involved in London's economy, especially in housing the latter's industries.
