The discography for the American jazz rock band Steely Dan consists of nine studio albums, twenty one singles, two live albums, one live set on DVD, seven compilations and one box set in the United States.
Steely Dan is an American jazz rock group founded by Walter Becker (guitars, bass, backing vocals) and Donald Fagen (keyboards, lead vocals). The band's first lineup also included guitarists Denny Dias and Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, drummer Jim Hodder and singer David Palmer.
The album was produced by Steely Dan's longtime producer Gary Katz, and their longtime master engineer Roger Nichols and features contributions from numerous leading session musicians. The eight-minute-long title track features a jazz-based chord progression and a solo by saxophonist Wayne Shorter .
Steely Dan was on its way to fame and, after a few more years of penury and forced servitude, fortune. Steely Dan toured behind Can’t Buy A Thrill and the following two albums, Countdown to Ecstasy and Pretzel Logic, both in the States and Britain.
