Starset fue formado por Dustin Bates, vocalista de Downplay, en 2013, tomó la función de vocalista principal, compositor y teclado. En la agrupación esta también Ron Dechant, quien formó parte de Downplay junto con Bates, que también quedaría como bajista, y por último, se incorporan Brock Richards y Adam Gilbert, estos últimos como guitarrista y baterista de la banda.
