  2. Download SpreadsheetLight. This is possibly the most developer-friendly spreadsheet library ever. Get version 3.4 now! Download SpreadsheetLight. SpreadsheetLight is also on NuGet. Bug fixed versions will be released promptly via NuGet, but stable releases with source code will still only be available here.

  3. The design of SpreadsheetLight is action-oriented, rather than object-oriented. This is to mimic the user interface of Microsoft Excel (or other spreadsheet software with a visual user interface, such as LibreOffice Calc). A spreadsheet user performs actions on a spreadsheet, such as set a cell value or insert a picture.

  5. SpreadsheetLight is written by Vincent Tan over hours of extensive research in Open XML spreadsheets and the behaviour of Microsoft Excel.

  6. If you can’t find any sample code here to do what you want, and you’re on a tight schedule, just contact me and I’ll show you how to accomplish your specific requirement. You can read and modify existing Excel spreadsheets, even though SpreadsheetLight is optimised for creating brand new spreadsheets.

  7. SpreadsheetLight is designed with the end developer in mind. Sort of like the end user, but development-wise. It is designed for developers to create/manipulate spreadsheets in the easiest manner possible. So convenience is emphasised over power.
