The Golden Snitch, often simply called the Snitch, was the third and smallest ball used in Quidditch. It was a walnut-sized gold-coloured sphere with silver wings. It flew around the Quidditch field at high speeds, sometimes pausing and hovering in place.

Quidditch ( / ˈkwɪdɪtʃ /) is a fictional sport invented by author J. K. Rowling for her fantasy book series Harry Potter. It first appeared in the novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (1997). In the series, Quidditch is portrayed as a dangerous but popular sport played by witches and wizards riding flying broomsticks.
The Snitch was approved as a Snidget substitute, the game of Quidditch could continue, and the modern sport as we know it was complete. All of the balls used in the modern game were now present, organised teams played against each other, and vast numbers of people came to watch.

Winged and golden in colour, it is the Seeker's job to circle the game looking for the ball. Worth 150 points, catching the Golden Snitch usually results in victory for that Seeker's team.
