Puss in Boots is a major character from Shrek. Loosly based on the fairytale character Puss in Boots hence the name and apperance, he also does parody of Zorro in the franchise. He was abandoned as a kitten in a basket, which somehow found its way to the doorstep of an orphanage in a Spanish town called San Ricardo.
The film included many tributes to the original Shrek film such as Shrek asking the villagers to run away or Princess Fiona blowing up a bird with her singing as well as some to the second film like Puss in Boots facing Shrek for the first time, as it was the crew's intention to sum up all the other Shrek films with Shrek Forever ...
Puss is present in the film Shrek Forever After, at the beginning of which he attends the first birthday party of Shrek and Fiona's children. In the alternate universe created by the film's antagonist, Rumpelstiltskin, and entered by Shrek, Puss has gained weight and is Fiona's pet after his retirement.
