Academic Divisions. Penn GSE's programs and faculty are organized into four academic divisions. Educational Linguistics. Chair: Betsy R. Rymes. A pioneer in the field, the Educational Linguistics (ELX) division is home to one of the first educational linguistics programs in the world—and today is one of only two such programs in the Ivy League.

Among its professional schools, the school of education was ranked number one in 2021 and Wharton School of Business was ranked number one in 2022 and 2024 and the communication, dentistry, medicine, nursing, law and veterinary schools rank in the top 5 nationally.
