Santa Monica High School is one of the 23 schools that has partnered with Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) for the Community Schools Initiative. The Community Schools Initiative is a strategy that brings together educators, community partners, local government agencies, students, and families to understand and address the unique needs, assets, and aspirations of the school community.
It is a part of the Santa Monica–Malibu Unified School District. As of the 2021-22 school year, the school had 2,806 students and 131.11 teachers of a full-time employee basis for a teacher-student ratio of 21.08, according to data by the National Center for Education Statistics .
