  2. As the world’s largest chimpanzee sanctuary, Chimp Haven is home to more than 300 chimps formerly used in biomedical research.   4. The Sanctuary. Chimfunshi is one of the largest and oldest chimpanzee sanctuaries of the world, with over 145 chimpanzees rescued from bushmeat/pet trade coming from all over the world. Our hundreds of acres of pristine Miombo woodland, we provide to the rescued chimpanzees with the safe and social environment they deserve.

  5. The aim – to provide lifelong refuge to orphaned and abused chimpanzees from West and Central Africa. Over the last decade, Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary has been compelled to keep accepting chimpanzees rescued from traumatic situations - bringing the total number of chimpanzees in the Sanctuary to 35.
