5 de may. de 2024 · The Salton Sea was formed in 1905 when an irrigation canal was dug from Colorado River down to the valley. The aim was to direct water to the farms in Imperial Valley and to help water the crops there. At some point the plan failed; the canal overflowed and created a lake at the bottom of the valley.
Hace 4 días · Description. The Salton Sea was a formerly dry lake bed located southeast of Palm Springs. The area was flooded as part of an effort to irrigate the surrounding area in the early 1900s, and is one of the largest lakes in California. It is also one of the saltiest and most polluted, due to agricultural run-off.
