Radioactive decay (also known as nuclear decay, radioactivity, radioactive disintegration, or nuclear disintegration) is the process by which an unstable atomic nucleus loses energy by radiation. A material containing unstable nuclei is considered radioactive. Three of the most common types of decay are alpha, beta, and gamma decay.
10 de ene. de 2023 · radioactive decay: A process by which an element is converted into a lighter element through the shedding of subatomic particles (and energy). radon : A radioactive member of the noble gas family. It is naturally given off by some rocks in the soil.
30 de may. de 2021 · Radioactivity is the spontaneous emission of ionizing radiation from nuclear decay and reactions. The three main types of radioactive decay are alpha, beta, and gamma decay, but there are other nuclear reactions responsible for radioactivity.
Watch alpha particles escape from a polonium nucleus, causing radioactive alpha decay. See how random decay times relate to the half life.
17 de sept. de 2004 · Speeding up decay by less than 1% will not help much in disposing of radioactive waste with half-lives of thousands or millions of years. So could the effect be made much bigger?
20 de mar. de 2020 · Radiation is energy given off by matter in the form of rays or high-speed particles. All matter is composed of atoms. Atoms are made up of various parts; the nucleus contains minute particles called protons and neutrons, and the atom's outer shell contains other particles called electrons.
