Undergraduate Program. In the fall semester approximately 1400 students enroll in our diverse undergraduate course offerings. Future mathematics majors generally (but not always) begin with one of our introductory proof-based courses: A few prospective majors start in MAT214 (Numbers, Equations, and Proofs) or in MAT203 (Vector Calculus) instead.
Our graduate program is unique from the other top mathematics institutions in the U.S. in that it emphasizes, from the start, independent research. Each year, we have extremely motivated and talented students among our new Ph.D. candidates who, we are proud to say, will become the next generation of leading researchers in their fields.

Math topics include: vector calculus; partial derivatives and matrices; line integrals; simple differential equations; surface and volume integrals; and Green's, Stokes's, and divergence theorems. One lecture, two preceptorials.
