Pinkshinyultrablast is a Russian shoegaze band from Saint Petersburg. [1] History. Their band name is a reference to the shoegaze band Astrobrite 's 2005 album, Pinkshinyultrablast. [2] . The group's first output was a 2009 EP, Happy Songs for Happy Zombies, and several years passed before their next release, the single "Umi" in 2014.

In 2004 Astrobrite was signed to Vinyl Junkie Records in Japan and released "Pinkshinyultrablast". From 2004 to 2008, in addition to recording Astrobrite material, Cortez was recording and performing with STAR. On April 17, 2007, a new studio album Whitenoise Superstar (stylised as whitenoisesuperstar) was released under Vinyl Junkie.
