Peter John Sinfield (born 27 December 1943) is an English poet and songwriter. He is best known as a co-founder and former lyricist of King Crimson. Their debut album In the Court of the Crimson King is considered one of the first and most influential progressive rock albums ever released.

The first incarnation of King Crimson—Robert Fripp, Michael Giles, Greg Lake, Ian McDonald and Peter Sinfield—was formed on 30 November 1968 with rehearsals beginning on 13 January 1969. Sinfield coined the band's name in "a moment of pressured panic".

El nombre King Crimson, en español Rey Carmesí, fue idea del letrista Peter Sinfield como sinónimo de Belcebú, príncipe de los demonios. Según Fripp, Belcebú es un anglicismo de la frase árabe B'il Sabab, la cual significa “hombre que ambiciona”.
Still (also known as Stillusion) is the first, and to date only, solo album by Pete Sinfield, former lyricist of progressive rock band King Crimson, released in 1973. At the time, Sinfield was involved with Emerson, Lake & Palmer , and Greg Lake assisted with vocals, while other King Crimson alumni provided assistance.
