Paul Joseph Weitz (July 25, 1932 – October 22, 2017) was an American naval officer and aviator, aeronautical engineer, test pilot, and NASA astronaut, who flew into space twice. He was a member of the three-man crew who flew on Skylab 2 , the first crewed Skylab mission.
25 de oct. de 2017 · He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Difranco, of Flagstaff, Arizona; his son, Matt Weitz, of Dallas; his sister, Evelyn Richards, of Baltimore, Maryland; and brother and sister-in-law, John and Karen Berry of Erie, Pennsylvania. Weitz died peacefully at his home in Flagstaff, Arizona, as reported by his daughter, by way of a family friend. He had been diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndromes, or MDS, a form of cancer. A member of NASA's fifth group of astronauts selected in April 1966, Weitz served on the first crew to live and work aboard an American space station.
