Patricia Carola Velásquez Semprún nació en Maracaibo, el 31 de enero de 1971. Se dio a conocer a nivel mundial en su participación en la película « La Momia» de 1999 haciendo el papel de Anck-Su-Namuny, y en « The Mummy Returns» en el año 2001. Ella es la quinta de seis hermanos.
Es una actriz y ex-supermodelo, que se ha destacado en el mundo del entretenimiento, por sus característicos rasgos físicos, producto del mestizaje típico del Caribe y heredado por ella del pueblo indígena. Es nativa de la Guajira venezolana y se declara «marabina de corazón».
