Don King: Only in America is a 1997 American television film directed by John Herzfeld and written by Kario Salem (based on the book Only in America: The Life and Crimes of Don King by Jack Newfield). The film stars actor Ving Rhames as Don King and tells the story of King becoming a famous fight promoter and boxing manager.
Television movie chronicles the life of Don King, former numbers runner and convicted felon, who after serving time in prison for manslaughter, rose from life on the Cleveland streets to become the world's most successful boxing promoter, transforming boxing into an international multimillion-dollar.
Don King (Ving Rhames) is involved in two fistfights that result in the deaths of his combatants, and, after serving prison time, enters the world of professional boxing.
