  3. Each professional training studio for the drama department at NYU Tisch teaches a unique approach to creative work, including acting, music theatre, directing, production, design and management.

  4. Visiting students and non-majors are invited to take classes during January Term, Spring at Tisch, and Summer. Earn credits towards your major or minor, build your résumé with an internship, or take classes to change careers.

  5. The actors train from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., five days a week. The training is divided into three disciplines: acting; voice, speech, and text; and movement. There are often four or five different classes a day, arranged so that the work in one complements the work in another and also so the student has a balance of these disciplines.

  6. Acting: Character Study. In this course students will continue the exploration begun in Acting: Fundamentals with in-depth scene and monologue preparation from the contemporary stage.

  7. With New York City as a hub, the department collaborates with several training studios to offer individualized training through three- and six-week summer intensives, ranging from acting technique to musical theatre, on-camera acting, and more.
