I thoroughly hated Gambon's performance because it simply wasn't similar to Dumbledore's characterization in the books. He's not Dumbledore; he's a pissed off and out-of-his-depth grumpy old wizard. Richard Harris was perfect as Dumbledore.
12 de nov. de 2015 · In the third movie, when Michael Gambon stepped in, they did a very good job of making him look similar, but it's obvious his speech patterns change from being a little old man to being a much stronger less wispy old man. His booming voice changed the character of Dumbledore.
Michael Gambon did not yell the entire time during the movies. He yelled ONCE. He yelled exactly once when he shouldn't have. Every other scene he was quiet, reserved, contemplative, calm, mild-mannered, etc.
2 de feb. de 2022 · Upon rereading and comparing scene by scene, I can adamantly say that Michael Gambon didn’t care about the character whatsoever. His facial expressions weren’t wise and he had a dumb look on his face.
5 de dic. de 2023 · In ‘Prisoner Of Azkaban’, his role was well acted and good but as time progressed, he started getting fans’ criticisms for his portrayal of Dumbledore, especially in ‘Goblet Of Fire’. Why was he disliked by Harry Potter fans? And why did everyone prefer Harris’s Dumbledore over Gambon’s?
6 de nov. de 2023 · After Peter O'Toole's age and health status became worrisome, the producers went with Michael Gambon as Harris' official replacement as Dumbledore. Gambon, another Irish-born actor, played Dumbledore for the remaining six films in the Harry Potter series.
