16 de abr. de 2024 · Maurice Wilkins was a New Zealand-born British biophysicist whose X-ray diffraction studies of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) proved crucial to the determination of DNA’s molecular structure by James D. Watson and Francis Crick. For this work the three scientists were jointly awarded the 1962 Nobel.

Watson earned degrees at the University of Chicago (BS, 1947) and Indiana University (PhD, 1950).
