The past forms for irregular verbs are not regular -- you just have to learn them. Sometimes people study these verbs in groups based on the past simple form -- for example, 'buy', 'bring' and 'think' all have '-ought' in their past simple form: 'bought', 'brought' and 'thought'.

They can be regular verbs that simply end with a "d" or an "ed" or they can be irregular and change their spelling to show the past tense.

The correct verb form here is 'have had'. You are describing a situation which began in the past and continues into the present, so the present perfect is appropriate. 'Yesterday' is a point in time rather than a period of time, so we would use 'since' rather than 'for'.
