Among the statues which decorate the building is a sculpture by Vera Muchina representing a couple of students and a statue by N. Tomsky of Mikhail Lomonosov (1711–1765), the founder of Moscow University. The University premises cover around 1.6 square kilometres. The complex was partially renovated in 2000. [5]
In 1940, Moscow University was named after Mikhail Lomonosov. Russian Emperor Nicholas I gave an order to buy the building on the Mokhovaya street for Moscow University, which is now home for the Faculty of Journalism.

You can visit the Botanical Garden only with an excursion group, which is formed right at the entrance to the garden. Admission for students, postgraduates and employees of the Lomonosov Moscow State University is free (upon presentation of a student card or a corporate ID card).
