Ledger recibió numerosos premios por su papel como el Joker en The Dark Knight. El 10 de noviembre de 2008 fue nominado a dos Premios People's Choice por su trabajo en la película, en las categorías «Mejor elenco en conjunto» y «Mejor dúo en pantalla» (compartido con Christian Bale ).

The Joker is a character portrayed by Heath Ledger and the main antagonist in Christopher Nolan 's 2008 superhero film The Dark Knight. Based on the DC Comics supervillain of the same name, he is depicted as a psychopathic criminal mastermind with a warped, sadistic sense of humor who defines himself by his conflict with the vigilante Batman.

Ledger received numerous awards for his Joker role in The Dark Knight. On 10 November 2008, he was nominated for two People's Choice Awards related to his work on the film, "Best Ensemble Cast" and "Best Onscreen Match-Up" (shared with Christian Bale), and Ledger won an award for "Match-Up" in the ceremony aired live on CBS in January 2009.
