Letonia (en letón: Latvija ⓘ ), oficialmente República de Letonia ( Latvijas Republika ), es un país soberano de Europa Septentrional, constituido en estado social y democrático de derecho y cuya forma de gobierno es la república parlamentaria. Es uno de los veintisiete Estados soberanos que forman la Unión Europea.
Letonia (nombre local, Latvijas Republika) es un estado de Europa oriental, a orillas del mar Báltico, entre Estonia y Lituania. Está situada en el norte de Europa, en la llamada región báltica.
