23 de ene. de 2016 · I had bought the vinyl reissue of "Labour of Lust", loving the song Cruel To Be Kind. Sonically, it was all over the place. The title tune which starts the album sounded very thin and brash, the cymbals hashy, dynamically compressed. But the guitar solo sounded fuller. A couple of tracks, particularly the acoustic ones, sound very natural.

While this LP, Lowe's second, does not have the immediate presence of his debut Pure Pop For The Now People, it may have a lot better staying power.
22 de ene. de 2011 · Finally, come the pop sensibilities, complete with exhilarating harmonies, of "American Squirm", "Born Fighter" and "Skin Deep". They're amongst the most finely crafted pop songs available. All have melody but with punk attitude. I've always felt that "Labour of Lust" was that link between Elvis Presley's "Sun Sessions" and 1979.
