Early life and education. Kathrin Romany Beckinsale was born on 26 July 1973 in the Chiswick district of London, [5] [6] the only child of actors Richard Beckinsale and Judy Loe. [7] She has a half-sister from her father's earlier marriage, actress Samantha Beckinsale. [7] Her father was partly of Burmese descent.
